Velodyne Lidar展示先进激光雷达技术如何改善行人安全

Velodyne新发布了一段视频,展示了其基于激光雷达的实惠型PAEB解决方案在所有条件下都能展现出卓越的性能,与基于雷达和摄像头的系统相比具有决定性优势。这一点在夜间尤其重要。根据美国国家公路交通安全管理局(NHTSA)的报告,80%的行人死亡事故发生在光线暗淡的情况下。

Velodyne的视频展示了惊人的测试结果,使用雷达和摄像头技术的高质量PAEB系统在所有六种夜间场景中都失败了,而Velodyne PAEB解决方案在所有情况下都避免了碰撞。这些结果支持了NHTSA和美国汽车协会(AAA)进行的独立测试,以确认使用雷达+摄像头技术的PAEB系统是否能够在黑暗条件下充分保护行人安全。
Velodyne PAEB解决方案组合使用了名为Vella的专有软件和Velodyne激光雷达传感器。这些传感器可以轻松嵌入车辆周围的各个地方,包括挡风玻璃后面。Vella软件对激光雷达数据进行解读,以避免和减轻对移动和静态物体的碰撞。凭借预测碰撞监测,Vella将车辆的轨迹与其他道路使用者和物体进行比较,来识别和避免即将发生的碰撞场景。

Velodyne PAEB测试方法
Velodyne PAEB测试是在夜间进行的,没有街灯,环境照明低于1勒克斯,选用的是一家独立的测试设施。参加测试的两部车辆以每小时30英里的速度沿直线行驶。在测试过程中,两部测试车辆的前照近光灯都是打开的。根据美国公路安全保险协会(IIHS)和欧盟新车安全评鉴协会(Euro NCAP)规定的测试规程,使用了固定的儿童和成人行人虚拟目标。
总共评估了六个场景,两部车在各个场景中测试五次或直到车辆与目标碰撞三次为止,以尽量减少对目标和车辆的损害。对车辆进行评估的测试场景包括:车辆与成人50%重叠(测试车辆宽度的中间位置);与成人25%重叠;与儿童50%重叠;与儿童25%重叠,与成人75%重叠,成人位于儿童10英尺的后方;成人位于驾驶员侧的前角;以及倒地成人50%重叠。
搭载Velodyne激光雷达PAEB系统(配有Velarray激光雷达传感器)的车辆在所有测试场景的五次测试中成功地及时停车五次,均避免了碰撞。搭载使用雷达+摄像头技术PAEB系统的车辆在每个测试场景中均以失败告终。
